Each Sunday, September through June, children gather at 9:45 a.m. through the first part of the 10 a.m. service for an interactive experience to learn about God's love, Bible stories, Christian traditions, the sacraments, and how to practice faith in daily life. Our modified Montessori based approach, using the Spark Curriculum along with Godly Play, allows children with a variety of learning styles to be formed in the faith through art, music, story, drama and cooking. After the large group opening in the Parish Hall, the children are led to one of three age-specific classes:
* Preschool - Kindergarten
* Grades 1 and 2
* Grades 3 through 5
Their formation continues by joining their families for the rest of worship where they are greeted by the congregation during the Children's Message. The 2013-14 Church School theme is Fishes of God. We have many dedicated volunteers who make our Church School strong. On a regular basis, our team includes Karen Williams, Jennifer MacDonald, Emily Santaniello, Annamarie Golden, Anne Keyser, Dean Berry, Valerie Smart, Marjorie Murray, Maureen Lewis, Janet Walsh Young, Mike Young and Stephanie Jasmin.
Young Family Gatherings
From time to time, special gatherings are offered to encourage fellowship among our young people and their parents or caregivers. Such events include potlucks, game nights, and movie nights. We emphasize that part of being Christian is a commitment to serving God by serving people. Because of this, we incorporate materials and activities from Heifer International into our program. Our children participate in such activities as Read to Feed, Fill the Ark, and Animal Crackers.
