Support for St. Andrew's

Dear people of St. Andrew's,
As Christians, we are storytellers. We have an ancient narrative, one that describes the beginning of time and the relationship between God and God's Creation. We see this story grow through the prophetic tradition until our story recounts the life and gifts of the Son of God. This salvific story continues in each of us today as we encounter and are transformed by the Good News.
Luke's Gospel story begins with an animated story of Mary, the mother of Jesus. It tells us of her joyous encounter with Divine, who informs her that she will bear a child who will change the world. She proclaims her joy with these words: "Tell out my soul! The Greatness of the Lord!" Mary's joyful acceptance initiated a story of hope and expectation – the story of humanity's salvation and God's recreation.
Bishop Timothy Dudley-Smith wrote a hymn inspired by these words in 1960. The hymn highlights our profound and deep desire to worship God. Saint Paul says that our true worship is to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. Worship is more than what we do on Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings. It is an invitation to give ourselves fully - our time, our talents, and our treasures.
What is our Good News, the ideas, dreams, and challenges placed in our hearts by God, that need to be shared? What is the ministry to which we are called that will change the world, sharing our time, talents, treasures, and love with our neighbors? It is our responsibility and privilege to share this Good News, to be the bearers of hope and change in our world.
Our Stewardship Campaign this year focuses on these stories – the ones inside you, the ones we are still writing, the ones we at St. Andrew’s tell about those who have gone before us, and those who are here continuing to share the Good News. We are all a vital part of this ongoing narrative – the ongoing Creation, a divine plan that we are all contributing to. As you pray about how you will share yourself with us this year, think about how God is calling you to tell out your soul, to spread the Good News far and wide. Hear the stories we share weekly throughout the campaign, which relate the creative spark within us to our call to serve God and love our neighbor.
Tell out my soul! The Greatness of the Lord!
In Christ,
Fr. Eddie
